Save the Pegasus!

UPDATE

Fellow Alums,

I wanted to take a second to update you on some of the developments regarding Pegasus' return to our Arts District campus.

1. All funds for restoration and relocation have been secured! I want to send a big shout out to The Senior Class of 2009 and all of you for your support!

2. The location of Pegasus will be a prominent one. It will be on the Flora St. side of the building behind the monument sign and in front of the new building.

3. All associated school groups came together on the location with unanimous agreement. This is truly a community effort!

4. We plan to have Pegasus back to the campus before the beginning of the next school year.

I want to take a second to thank the BTWHSPVA Advisory Board and our own Board. Without all of their efforts, this probably wouldn't have happened this quickly. As I get firm dates on the relocation events, i will update you all.

I have uploaded some photos of the original Pegasus move to Nolan Estes on our facebook group page. You can see why we truly needed to save him!

In addition...

Did you guys know that the Dallas' first black judge was an alumnus of Booker T. Washington? I think that a lot of the school's pre-Arts Magnet history is lost on us, so periodically, I am going to post some news or history about Booker T. Washington pre-1976. See the great news link on L.A. Bedford, Booker T. alum and Dallas' first black judge.

Thanks again for your support and participation!

Arts Alumni Arboretum Playdate!

In addition to the Senior/Faculty volleyball game picnic, Tara Marble Brock and Andy Davis are arranging a meetup at the Dallas Arboretum. If you are getting into town too late for the volleyball game then this is your chance to catch up. The Arboretum is beautiful this time of year.

ONCE INSIDE THE ARBORETUM:
Martin Rutchik Concert Stage and Lawn overlooking White Rock Lake.
Area 23 on the Garden Map
http://www.dallasarboretum.org/Visit.htm
Go through entrance, take a right, keep walking on the main path, past the buildings. Entrance fee applies (sorry), but the display of Playhouses is still up & included in admission.

FOOD:
BYOPicnic. Casual, just people meeting up and hanging out. Just a chance for those of us who can't get a sitter or have gotten too old to attend the event at Dada to still see old friends! ;)
