[Discuss] Update 1/20 Alumni Association

Tonight several Board members met at The MAC to discuss upcoming ventures of the Alumni Association. Members in attendance: Paige Furr, Brian Nickerson, Ean Schuessler, Erik Schuessler, Carin Thompson, Luis Valdespino, and Juliana Williams.

The following items were covered:
1. Taste of the Arts- The Alumni Association was asked to sponsor a table outside the art gallery with snacks and drinks. We were also asked to put a call out to all alumni to donate items (gift cards, art work, services, ANYTHING) to the silent auction. We can host our own table in the silent auction space with just items from alums. If you can donate items for the auction, food/drink for the table, or your time on Feb 28, please contact TOTA@artsalumni.org

2. Memorial Day 2009 Weekend- Friday evening, May 22 would be an informal evening of volleyball (faculty/student game that day too), food and fun. Saturday May 23 would be a day of master classes, short informal shows, Alumni Art Show opening, and school tours from 10am-2pm at the school with a party that evening at Club Dada (similar to the Holiday Party set-up). 3. The Pegasus-The district is planning on returning it to the campus.  The location we had selected has not been approved by the city due to the impending construction on Routh Street.  We were too close to the required easements.  As soon as the location is approved - they will start the movement back to Arts. 

4. Paperwork and filings-Luis confirmed that he and Cece had filed some of the paperwork to reincorporate the old EIN and name. After talking as a team we came to the agreement that we will work as a group to resolve all issues with the back taxes, paperwork, and all the things that need to be filed. We agreed that persons acting in a manner which is unacceptable,  detrimental, or unbecoming of the Alumni Association should not hold a BOD position following said actions. It was also agreed that persons unwilling to work through consensus should not be acting as BOD. The members present agreed that 3 meetings need to take place in order to accomplish these goals: 
     1. A meeting with all BOD Paige Furr, Cece Howard, Brian Nickerson, Ean Schuessler, Erik Schuessler, Carin Thompson, Luis Valdespino, and Juliana Williams will be held to work through issues and start working on the next steps with the paperwork.
     2. Paige Furr, Cece Howard, Carin Thompson, Luis Valdespino, and Juliana Williams will meet with the attorney to determine what needs to be filed and in which order it should be filed. Also will discuss bylaw wording and changes. No more filing will occur until this happens. 
     3. A meeting of any interested parties to change and amend the by laws of the Arts Magnet Alumni Association. This meeting will be held on a weekend afternoon in order to give ample time to wade through all the work. May take more than one meeting and ALL ALUMNI are invited to participate in this process.

This will take time, patience and understanding. We want people involved in the process of forming and revitalizing our new and improved Arts Magnet Alumni Association.
