Actually, the school board is taking this matter up in about 30 minutes. Here's a link to the agenda and supporting documents:

I can't make it today, but it seems to me that this special board meeting was called so that there could be as little resistance as possible. I can't make it because of work, but if anyone can run down to the board meeting to get a better idea of what's going on, I'd appreciate it. If you look at the second attachment, Arts' staff would be cut significantly.

Juliana... I know this is short notice, but things like this have impacted our school before and alumni voices helped our cause.

I cannot attend, but wanted you to know and spread the word if interested.

thanks, Kimberly

NEWS ABOUT the 09-10 staffing
allocation plan for our school
and a couple of other notes
May 4, 2009

ATTENTION PARENTS!!!!!

Very Important Meeting!!!!!

MAY 5 at 7:00 p.m.

Sequoyah Learning Center
3635 Greenleaf St. · Dallas, Texas 75212

As you know, the DISD administration is considering changes to the staffing allocations for the Magnet Schools and Learning Centers.  Please understand, there will be staffing cuts for Learning Centers and Magnet Schools (this means us!) under the revised staffing allocation plan.  Staff at ALL levels will be affected.  Programs will be affected. I believe that when we make changes, the people who will be most affected by the changes need to have extensive knowledge about the change before the Board approves them.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, May 5, at 7:00 p.m., Lew Blackburn is hosting a meeting at Sequoyah Learning Center, along with Central Administration, to discuss the issues, and consequences of the proposed staffing allocation changes.  Students, staff, parents, and community members are invited to learn more about the proposed staffing allocation changes for the 2009-2010 school year.

If you need additional infomation contact Delisa Proctor, Board Coordinator, at 972-925-3722. or Lew Blackburn at 214-232-6380.
